As its first step towards its domination of the west, Archadia invaded the Kingdom of Nabradia. Lord Rasler's motherland fell to the fires of war. Dalmasca later met the same fate. With its defeat at Nalbina Fortress, Dalmasca lost the bulk of its military power. The brave Dalmascan soldiers attempted to fight back, but the overwhelming superiority of the Archadian army wiped them all out. Archadia presented a truce offering to Dalmasca. In reality it was nothing more than a declaration of surrender. My old friend, King Raminas, agreed to the terms of the offering and headed to Nalbina Fortress to formalize the agreement. After King Raminas departed, the few soldiers left in Rabanastre were alerted to some surprising information. It tells you when there is something near like a door, switch or treasure. If you want to know more about what it is, move one step closer. The FIELD SIGN's shape will change. Then, hit the CIRCLE BUTTON. Go ahead and open the door. OPEN THE DOOR. Basch: Let's go in. We'll dispatch the occupying forces and take back Dalmasca with our own hands. Reks, you worry about the enemies in front of you and I'll watch the rear. Basch: Reks, use the TRIANGLE BUTTON to open the PARTY MENU. Here you can check things like your status or what items you have on hand. A SOLDIER APPEARS. APPROACH THE SOLDIER. Basch: That's the enemy's target line. Be careful, he's targeting you. A RED LINE means an enemy is targeting a party member. A BLUE LINE means that a party member is targeting an enemy. If you see a RED LINE appear, quickly determine who is targeting you. If you can't see the enemy, use the RIGHT STICK to search for it. Press the CIRCLE BUTTON to bring up your BATTLE COMMANDS. Choose ATTACK and approach the enemy with the RIGHT STICK. You`ll keep attacking until the enemy is defeated. You can change who you are fighting or your own movements at anytime. If your HP is low, press CIRCLE to bring up the BATTLE COMMAND menu, choose ITEM and use a POTION. After you use an item your character will automatically resume attacking the enemy. So, there is no need to choose ATTACK from the BATTLE COMMAND menu again. Got it? You can do it, Reks! FIGHT AND DEFEAT THE SOLDIER. RUN STRAIGHT AHEAD. A SMALL AIRSHIP APPEARS. DESTROY IT. If you touch a SAVE CRYSTAL you will fully replenish your HP and MP. You can gain MP back by walking but it takes time. If you spot a SAVE CRYSTAL make sure you use it. There's a lot more I want to teach you but try to use what you've learned in battle. There's no more time to explain. We must arrive before the King signs the peace treaty. Expose the Shade Stone to the crystal to absorb the energy. There are 4 crystals in the plains. If you don't know where they are just look around. They're easy to spot. One crystal won't be enough to make a Sun Stone but if you do it well, you don't necessarily have to go to all of them. Here's an energy bar. When it gets to 100% the Shade Stone will become a Sun Stone. Then, bring it back here and I'll look at it. Here, I'll even mark the location of the crystals on your map. Look at it if you get lost. That's when you'll need the crescent stone. It has the magic power to reveal and open the hidden door. "The crest craves sunlight and reveals the hidden path." Remember these words. You have to find the crest and hold up the stone. Here's a little advice. If you are caught you will be sent to the Nalbina dungeons and will rot there for the rest of your life. So, I wouldn't go to the palace tonight. There'll be too many soldiers. Vaan, you can freely customize the target and action of a gambit. So, you can do something useful like "Use Cure on any party member with less than 50% HP". But if you make a mistake you may ending up punching your weak partner. Basically, use your head when you customize. Let me teach you before you screw everything up. This is the Gambit screen. You can access it from the Party Menu. You can customize the TARGET and ACTION. Select my ACTION. (First aid changes to Potion) So now I will give a potion to a party member. But, you can use too many potions this way. Let's change the target to help prevent waste. Ok, now I will only give a potion to a party member who has less than 70% HP. As you can see you can change the ACTION and who is going to use it. You can't set targets that you don't have so make sure to buy some at the Gambit shop. Next, let's discuss Gambit priority. If I switch these two (Give potion to party member with less than 70% HP and Attack enemy in front of me), the one in the first slot will act first. In battle, even if there is a member with low energy I will not give them a potion if there is an enemy in front of me. It is usually best to put healing Gambits first. You can also turn Gambits on and off here as opposed to just from the Battle Menu. But, why turn off a Gambit that you customized? However, if you want to run away during a battle it is best to set the Gambits to off. If the leader is trying to run away but the other members are still fighting, what good does that do? Let's set the Gambits back the way they were. Once you get new Targets and Actions you should try them out and see which combinations work best. But, don't always think that the one you are using will always be the best. Situations and places change. Choose Gambits that fit these environments. For example, if there is an enemy whose weakness is fire, you can customize a Gambit that uses fire on the enemy in front of you. If there are many enemies that have poison you can "Use Poisona on a poisoned member." If you don't think you understand then you shouldn't waste your money on Gambits. But, those kind of people don't live very long. ** GAMBIT IS ADDED TO THE PARTY MENU ** ** BATTLE MEMBER IS ADDED TO THE PARTY MENU ** EXAMINE THE BODIES ON THE LEFT Balthier: These were soldiers from the Rebel Army. my profile five pages of comments Enlightenment I would like to propose a question. Why do we search far and wide for happiness? The two definitions for enlightenment I have come across is the achievement of nirvana through transcending desire and suffering (dictionary.com), and the awareness of being gained through meditation (wikipedia.com). I consider myself on the path to enlightenment and think it is a pretty cool place to be. I am here to share my thoughts on why. I believe the answer is found in our upbringing. We are told that we must go out and find what we need in order to be content and happy. This notion is reinforced over and over again, especially with our capitalist government. We are grown into cute little consumers that feel the need to buy all this stuff in order to be content and happy. The closest picture of this attempt is going out on an Easter egg hunt with the egg taped securely on your hat and little cardboard eggs littered across a field. There is momentary joy brought from the discovery of a potential egg but that never lasts for a decent amount of time. Real joy and contentment comes from giving up that search so you may find the real egg. This does not mean that you have to give up your urban life and go live in a cave up in bumfuck nowhere. You do, however need moderation in life to attain this joy. Give up TV for a week or whatever you are addicted to and learn to live without it. Watching a television show every once and a while wont hurt but sitting in front of it day in and day out certainly wont get you far. Enjoy where you are during every moment of the day. If you are eating then take your time and enjoy every bite. This is such a simple solution to a horrifically widespread problem that it seems ridicules at first glance. It is not a process that is gained instantly. It definitely takes a serous amount of energy and willpower to work. Timing is also a key factor. You need to be ready for such a change to welcome it but the good news is that every single person can go through this change. Please dont think that I am saying that this is the only way to go. Many people claim to be perfectly happy with their lives and dont require such a change but it is definitely something I would recommend for those who dont want to settle with the daily schedule. In conclusion, enlightenment is something that everyone can archive and can improve quality of life exponentially. You dont need to move anywhere or shave your head to do it either. I believe that if everyone became enlightened there would be no need for war because practically all fighting would be eliminated. All disputes could be settled peacefully, ending the arms race and the need for armies and in turn ending all war. People often feel the need to dwell on past sufferings and to gain revenge but this is simply an unnecessary thing. All pain, dishonesty, fear, rage and sadness can be eliminated forever in a very simple manner. Difficulties When you are observing somthing you want to be as objective as possible. If you allow your feelings to get in the way you will report flawed results. When you have actions (for a large company for instance) that are also warped due to personal feeling based on those results then you dont get 100% results from that. What I am trying to say is all human observation is flawed. A camera for instance only records what it sees because it cannot analyze and skew its recordings. Thats why photography is so great. You can capture what you want to show with perfection. You dont need to observe and memorize your results so you can toss them about on such a blog... not to say that I dont have a vast amount of pride in this blog. It can never be 100% correct. Good thing I am not here to give 100% perfect results... just my thoughts. So it works out. Another thing I wanted to talk about is how everyone has difficulty accepting radical change. Revolutions are necessary in order to keep civilization in check. With any new government change a huge ripple of anger and rebellion spread. For instance I was not overjoyed at new years because I saw it as pointless. Why celebrate a random date when you can celebrate every single day the same way? Why put off progression and evolution when you can have a cup full of it daily? Because people are afraid of change and need to roll it all up into a single date so they can lie to themselves and pass it off as change. I will stop drinking. I will quit smoking. I will get a new lifestyle. Lies! I choose not to lie to myself because social traditions tell me to and most do not accept that. In older times young boys needed to take up large amounts of responsibilities because off famine or poor living conditions. Now living conditions have gotten better (for some. lots of poor still around) so people can take less responsibility. I will give you an example. Anyone ever seen a Christmas story? You cant have that air rifle because you would shoot your eye out. In older times kids were given weapons to train with so they could fight. Here Jacob... have a 20lb axe... dont chop off your leg! Then you will need to hop to the tiger. So in conclusion my outlook on life is changing and I think yours should too. The Matrix Has You I would like to note that these are all my personal theories and have no way are 'official' behind the movie ideas. It seems the more I research and explore the great worlds of quantum physics, energy manipulation and philosophy the movie series 'The Matrix' keeps coming back to me. Forget the awesome fight scenes and dodging bullets for a second because I want to explore the widely missed aspects of the movie series. Lets start with neo and his progression throughout the movies. His progression is Birth (waking up from the matrix), life (becoming stronger) and death (going blind and becoming part of the matrix code world). Far too many books and movies have birth, life and death as main points but I think needed for what kind of movie they were trying to show. First he wakes up and becomes free from the matrix, then he learns how to fight and becomes strong and finally he dies. Who would have guessed it? Now I want to talk about the character of (my personal favorite) Agent Smith. Agent smith represents the evolution of every man into higher thought and existence. Like neo... smith comes in packages of three. Smiths progression is separation from the matrix, virus form and finally godlike form where he controls the weather, etc. Agent smith is written over or edited by neo at the end of the first movie. Before that he was part of the system and upholder of the universal laws of the matrix. You and the majority of people are most likely at this stage. Part of society and 'living life only to keep on living.' in the next movie it is revealed that smith has become separate and no longer works for the matrix. This is where I am at. Live life as you see fit and are can recognize society for what it really is... a tool. This way of thinking is highly contagious because it has a high probability of waking people up from their zombie state. It gets them thinking about things deemed nonproductive. Finally we have the ultimate god mode. Fully integrated with the universe and unrestricted from political, social and worldly rules. Moral and ethical obligations stop being a factor because you become part of everyone else. In essence you leave your mortal state and infuse yourself with everything else. In agent smiths case he decided to take over the world but only because he is an egotistical bastard. I would like to mention at this time that everything in the movie is an aspect of a single person. The oracle for instance represents the right side of the brain. She looks at the world as a whole (telling the future) and bakes some tasty cookies. The right side controls randomness, being intuitive, being holistic, synthesizing and being subjective, looks at wholes. The architect is the left side. He is all logic. He sees the world as 1s and 0s. The left side of the brain is logical, sequential, rational, analytical, being objective and looks at parts. Neo and agent smith are consciousness and the rest of the enslaved world is the five senses that they experience the world with or how they interpret things. Various programs such as the Merovingian represent different parts of the brain. Since the movie takes place inside a computer system it pretty much represents in the mind of the person. While they have anything they want in the matrix they are limited to ripped clothing and goop in the real world. I think this represents idealism. The other agents represent all that would oppose thinking such as this. In the movie you see cities turn into code and zoom out to become other things such as alarm clocks. This is a way of saying that everything is interconnected. Everything is made of energy and as such has a relationship on many different levels with everything else. The typing of a keyboard in California affects a hurricane on the east coast. I have a theory that I believe to be represented in the matrix. I believe that we are inside a quark. A quark makes up atoms which make up matter. We could be inside every single quark. A cosmos inside of the smallest bit of matter we have found. Energy could be made up of itself. We wouldnt need to travel anywhere to get answers because you are in every bit of matter already. I think time also works in such a way. All of time happens at once and we kind of surf through it. I believe life is somewhat like browsing the internet. As for the cast Neo is played by Keanu Reeves, Morpheus is played by Laurence Fishburne, Trinity is played by Carrie-Anne Moss, Agent Smith is played by Hugo Weaving, The Oracle by Gloria Foster and Mary Alice and finally the Architect is played by Helmut Bakaitis (possibly the coolest name I have ever heard of). sensory deprivation, LSD and psychosis How do you tell what is real, what is a dream or what is a hallucination? Dreams are a bit obvious because your asleep but then there are sleeping problems like insomnia. I hear you dont know when youre asleep and when youre awake. Then there are daydreams which are mostly just fantasies but often turn into full fledged dreams where you totally forget about what is happening around you. Then there is drug use... I dont take drugs simply because I have a hard enough time as it is figuring out what is real or not. Forget about how drugs affect people for a moment... the body is perfectly capable of creating its own drugs and giving you a high. Ever been in extreme pain or had an orgasm? You know what I am talking about. Sensory deprivation for example causes you to hallucinate because the lack of stimuli. You are quite literally left with yourself and you project yourself onto your surroundings. So with all this warping of reality how can you be sure of what reality is... what it really is? You cant. Not really. Reality is left with the experience of the majority of life. The common experience. Here is where it really gets tricky. Collective consciousness is the river of information that everyone has access to. Everyone creates reality. The stronger minded ones are the lead designers while the lesser minded dont do as much. With all this said you start to question math and science. How reliable can they be with all this twisting and manipulation of the world? Simple. Math and science are built on the concepts we think with. With math its a simple question of concepts and numbers. With science its a simple question of the dominant tendency, which is what reality is built on right? Right! With psychosis you dont even need to take drugs. Your brain already has fun things in store for you. Here is the other side of the argument... if everyone thought one person could fly (actually 100% believed in them) they would take off in flight. Not because they were actually flying but because everyone believed they could. So with all these mind altering states where does this leave everyone? In a constantly changing and self-altering reality but how real is a reality that is made from the thoughts of people? This is where quantum physics kicks into gear. Matter as it turns out isnt solid. Everyone knows that sandwiches are made of atoms. Atoms are made from protons, electrons and neutrons. Protons and neutrons make up the nucleus while the electrons fly around in this cloud around it. If you do a Google search of a picture of the atom you will see that they are round orbs. This is incorrect. They would have us think that these little bastards are solid but alas they are not. They are made of even smaller bits called quarks. Now remember that Google search picture of the atom? Very deceptive they were. They showed the electrons and protons and neutrons as being close but in reality they are quite far apart. If a proton were the size of a football the electron would be a football field away. Now we are breaking that even smaller with more space between parts into quarks. God knows what quarks are made up of. It gets to the point where you start to look at matter not as solid objects but energy. It has been proven before that even thoughts are made of energy. Would I be overly bold to say that matter was made up of thought? That your whole body is made of thought? Look up the book "Messages in Water by Dr. Masaru Emoto." he changed the shape of water crystals by using thought. This proves that matter can at the very least be affected by thought. What if this world we live in was not real? (No I havent seen the matrix one too many times) what if our 'souls' were using this place as a learning tool? Reincarnation... its all very possible. Thank you for reading. Videogame violence Ok so the idea is that parents are starting to think that video game violence makes kids violent. Its just a stupid idea. It might make stupid kids more violent but for the majority of the kids playing video games its fine. I have been watching violent films sense I could talk. My dad raised me to never attack first in a fight and always keep your cool. That I should subdue the opponent and not let it become a huge fight. I can watch very gory films and be fine with it. I can lop of limbs in video games and feel no different then when I started. Violent games and movies dont make kids violent... the opportunity to learn right from wrong in a comfortable setting decides. Well for me it did. My dad always let me see whatever I wanted but he also taught me how to defend myself and how to use force correctly and when needed. The same thing with cursing... he used to try and pay me to say 'fuck.' I would never do it because I had morality as a little bugger. Then I learned that there is nothing wrong with cursing... so he taught me how to do it appropriately. Dont treat your kids like little kids or they will grow up to know nothing but that. Feed their interests not oppress them. That only leads to them doing whatever it is with their friends and not doing it properly. Of course videogames and movies program your brain. Everything you experience helps program your brain. When you did led in your hippy outfit it programmed your brain a certain way. When I play a video game I get right into it. I go into a mode that is unlike normal life. I cant explain what I do in words because the moment I try to explain something as simple as jumping I freeze up. My hands just do it. Thats the programming its doing and not training you to be a ninja... though that doesnt sound like a bad idea... ninjas are badass. If you play grand theft auto for 48 hours you arent going to want and go out and steal a nice car or shoot someone walking down the street. Dont get me wrong I have had moments where I picture myself as in the game and me doing those things but its just for laughs and nothing more. Just because some kid played 007 and shot a guy does not mean 007 should be banned. It just means there is one more stupid fucker with access to guns. Its sad really... to be blamed for other's actions. As a gamer I feel attacked by the media. Like I am going to go out and shoot someone just because I own a copy of halo 2. My mom thinks I am a video game addict just because I rather sit inside and shoot some bots than sunbathe. So please spread the truth. Stop the hate. Thanks Kris for this wonderful idea. What you make of it A friend wrote a blog entry recently. In it he talked about his opinion on how life isnt what you make of it and how you shouldnt suppress your anger and feelings. I responded and told him that I disagree and was fairly brief but here I can be as longwinded as I want. Ok! Life is exactly what you make of it. The people who dont believe that would argue that you cant control everything that happens and thus other people dictate the events of your life. Well thats a good way of not taking responsibility for your actions. If you ram your car into someone elses you have to collect his or her info etc. to say that fate directed my wheel to that car would be just downright stupid. You hit them because you werent paying attention. If other peoples lives dictated yours there would be no justice system. You would appear before the court and the judge would just say 'well I guess it isnt your fault... you were looking at an interesting book. You can go. Shit happens.' but alas it is not the case. On to emotions and suppressing them. For the longest time I thought that emotions should be used as much as possible. That if you suppress them you would become unhealthy. I like to think of mud when I am explaining this. Think of a pile of mud. If you try to build a wall with it the wall will just fall apart (water being emotion and the dirt being logic.) but if you take out the water and build a wall using the water as needed it will become strong. What I am trying to get at is that control of your emotions and thoughts will make you a more mentally sound person. Its not so much that your suppressing them, its simply you controlling them and can use them when needed. Emotion can be a pretty useful tool but like any tool has a specific purpose. You wouldnt use a hammer to tighten a bolt. So weather your a pile of mud or a hammer... be smart about what your doing. Thanks for reading. Labels, racism and quizzes I have been holding back on writing this because I have been collecting information and I want this to be the best it can be. The blog, as you can see from the title, is about labels, racism and the ultimate evil... quizzes. Now I have spent much time profile surfing on many different sites. The majority of the time I saw that they disliked labels, racists, homophobes, rapists, ignorant people and in many cases with 'gothic' sites... the sun. Lets tackle this big boy one idea at a time. Labels suck. Everyone knows that but few will admit to using it sparingly. Think about the last time you made an attempt at describing someone. You most likely used a label and didnt realize it. They help to explain about a person ON THE OUTSIDE. Example: he dresses in a gothic manner. Its useful but completely unnecessary. If you have a decent memory you can recall what your friend wears. Example: they wear mostly black clothing incorporating many metal things such as zippers, chains and such. To classify yourself under a label proves your lack of an interesting personality. Thats what this blog is really about... how uninteresting the majority of people are. Take the time and describe people in a manner that will do them justice to who they are not only fashion wise but mentally. What is their personality like? Onward! Racists, homophobes and rapists. Of course you dont like those things. I dont know anyone who does. I could go on about it but I wont. Too much to cover. On to the ignorant. Many people are quite stupid and\or dull. Though you could be brilliant and still be dull. Many people who are ignorant are quite annoying. Unfortunately its the majority of the stupid to be labeled as compassionate and the smart to be labeled as heartless. The ignorant are overly compassionate because thats the only thing they can relate to. Your misfortune. They cannot hold an interesting conversation so they dwell with your problems and try to comfort you. They also have conversations with the lesser aspects of life. Sticking to the 'how was your day?' and 'how are you.' this is their way of staying off the topics that will make them feel stupid and sticking with the emotional which most everyone feels. As a result many ignorant are overly emotional. I think that covers that. The sun. Its big... its bright... its here every day. On one hand I dislike the brightness of the sun like many others but through sun gazing I have learned that it can be a valuable source of energy (besides what we know of now such as warmth and light). And finally quizzes... the quiz is the work of the ignorant. It is yet another diversionary tactic in profiles. They are much more interested in your quiz results than actual interesting, mind stimulating conversation. Just like a hooker is interested in your money and not a long-term relationship. The ignorant are the mental hookers in the online world (as well as the real world.). On the other hand quizzes can be funny, interesting and witty though few are. I have been known to put up a quiz or two up every now and again but always for the sake of humor and not as something you should spend too much time on.
