Dragon Quest X
September 7, 2011, 4:41AM

"With so many MMOs going free to play, it is hard to see a non-MMO devolve to require a monthly subscription. Dragon Quest X will be one of those games, as a new FAQ entry on Square Enix's support site makes a notation that there is an additional fee for logging online. Still, this isn't even the best part.

The best part is where another entry states that only the "first few hours" can be played offline. So in order to access the majority of the game, Japanese gamers will have to pay for a subscription. Whether or not this cost will transfer to the western market in 2012, has yet to be seen.

Pretty sneaky of you Square-Enix. Making a feature for a game optional, until you get to a point where it is no longer optional.
