If you're already running Vista there's absolutely no reason not to upgrade to Win 7. It's only going to increase your performance.
Vs. XP, I don't know. Granted, I'd really taken some time to tweak my XP installation and I had it really barebones to optimize for speed and responsiveness. Even so, Win 7 out of the box feels only slightly less responsive.

Errr... well, I guess it depends on what you're talking about. Some features can be adjusted.

Well, in the past, XP and Vista just simply came with the computer.
I didn't have Vista until a few years after its release.

| Re: Windows 7 | November 3, 2009, 11:05PM | I've got Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit installed on my old desktop which is an AMD 3200 Athlon 1.4Ghz, 2GB ram, was running Windows XP Home.
It runs awesome and is a little bit faster without being tweaked at all compaired to XP tweaked to the best it can be.
Now I need a 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate for my laptop which is currently running Windows Vista Premium Home.....it runs like complete and utter shit and boot up takes like 5 to sometimes 10 mins with two reboots just to get it to start up completely without freezing up for 20 mins.......
I cannot stand Vista, even when tweaked. There is nothing to fix it except getting rid of it and forgetting it ever existed. And I've used every version of Vista so, yeah.
GO WINDOWS 7!!!
It's so fucking good, they finally got it.
Who wants to bet Windows 8 turns out to be a pile of shit and fail? XD

I don't remember exactly what they were but I'd have to keep re-installing programs in order for certain sites to work or to play things.

I've got both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Ultimate. I decided to install 32 because I'm not even sure I can find 64 bit versions of all the software I use. Dreamweaver? Photoshop? Anyone know on those? Uhg, there are a lot of other apps from small developers which I know don't have 64 bit versions. Oh well.

It will be. And all the smart people will stay with Windows 7 until they fix everything and make another release, just like this time. I never bothered installing Vista on any of my machines. (I know, some of you poor bastards had no choice with Vista installed OEM.)

I wouldn't, but I just like to know I have that option.

| Re: Windows 7 | November 4, 2009, 12:23PM | Don't 32 bit apps installed on a 64 bit OS run at least as good as they would on a 32 bit OS? So I don't see why it would deter from getting the 64 if your machine can use it.
I'm currently only using Win7 on my ancient ThinkPad. Runs beautifully. Once I decide to stop being lazy I'll update my desktop.
