didn't feel like making a new thread for it, so:
when i was making a smiley face (1.gif) in a profile comment today, it showed up as a bad image, though it always works in threads.
copied the url and it came out as http://www.darkstarlings.com/%22/emoticons/1.gif/%22
instead of http://www.darkstarlings.com/emoticons/1.gif/
also tested with 4.gif, same problem, only obviously a different number for the gif. didn't try any others, but i assume they're the same.
