About Me |
I've finally sat down long enough to fill this out somewhat properly. I've been on and off here since 2007, if I'm remembering correctly. That's neither here nor there though.
I'm pretty normal, when you get down to it. I went to school, got my BA, and now I'm saving up money for Grad school. Ya know, gotta better my life so my parents can retire to a fancy refrigerator box when I'm making mo' money. I've lived in Texas the majority of my life, but have been to a handful of other states. We used to live in Mississippi when my step-dad was in the Navy, but I barely remember it. I just remember Christmas on board his ship, and getting a shit ton of legos that year. I travel to Michigan about once a year to see my bio-dad and that side of my family. It's always fun. I'm either playing in snow [yes, quite literally playing - even at my old age] or out fishing and getting tattooed by his co-worker Weird Beard.
I'm a Department Head for my job, so that's a lot of fun, and I have a ton of creative freedom. I also enjoy having underlings that pretty much have to do what I ask of them, and since I'm hobbit size, the slight power I have is nice. I just tend to hang out by myself, or with friends. I work and chill.
I collect records. Those old vinyls with their pops just ignite something inside me, that makes me comfortable.
I have one of the most awesome best friend, whom I've known since I started on this site. She's been a pretty solid person in my life, even though I'm here and she's there. Her name's Maggot_Insanity.

Likes |
*Music. I love music like no tomorrow, and I'm not really adverse to much of anything, even rap music. I dig me some Astronautalis. Heck, even Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are pretty decent, even though they're all over the radio right now.
*Alcohol. This might be an overrated category, but I really do enjoy it. I like to swirl wine over my tongue, and guzzle beer. I like shots of Patron and vodka. I like playing Kings Cup, and drinking sweet tea flavored alcoholic beverages.
*Zombies. Before everyone ran out of vampire storylines, and started doing all this zombie stuff, I love them. They're so fascinating. I've had a penchant for zombies and things horror since I was conceived. My love was fostered in middle school when I started reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. I'm sure certain teachers were questioning my mother's parenting skills at this point, considering the erotic tendencies we've come to know and love with Anita and her pommes de sang.
*Tacos. I absolutely LOVE tacos. And this is the reason I will forever be a fat kid. And enjoy it. That's probably one of the main reasons I could never move away from Texas for good. Otherwise I'd have to open a taco place and hire professionals. Hide your Abuelitas!
*Body Modifications. I have my ears and tongue pierced. I had my lip and my eyebrow done, but for various reasons [not job related] I took them out. I've got 5 tattoos so far, and have numerous things I want done. I think they're a beautiful representation of who people are. Of course there are those people who get pieces done and you're like, "WTF were you smoking when you got that?" But I've had the same reaction to Betty and Frederick [yes, I've named my zombie tattoos]. But I appreciate the artwork others have nonetheless.
*Texting. In a world of unlimited messaging, why the hell not? Besides, it's easier for me to text someone back then to actually call them, because I'm normally in the middle of doing something.

Snarky people. Unless I've know you forever. I mean really, I probably haven't done anything to you at this point, so there's no reason to be a douche. Unless I've slighted you in some way, cut your shit. You aren't a badass. I'm sure there are pet peeves I have, like when the toilet paper roll is refilled the wrong way! That irritates the hell out of me. It should roll towards you, not away from you. But I'm a pretty chill person.

Favorite Music |
Ohoho, I don't think I could list everything. I can jump from Andrea Bocelli to Belle and Sebastian, The Ramones, Napalm Death, to Miranda Lambert. I'm all ears when it comes to music, because it's something that has a sound for every emotion.

Favorite Movies |
I like odd movies, like "Ghost World," and "Everything is Illuminated," Rom-Coms, Comedies. It just depends really. I'm a John Hughes/Brat Pack lady as well. I'm not really big into action films, but I do like "From Paris, With Love," "Hit Man," and things of that nature. "Sling Blade" is probably one of my top ten favorite films. I like Asian films, such as "House of Flying Daggers," and "Crouching Tiger Hidden, Hidden Dragon." I'm a fan of Zhang Zi Yi, mostly because she uses more dance in her martial arts films than actual martial arts.

Favorite Books |
There are too many! I am a huge Austenite. I'm always open to new suggestions, and though I love reading Young Adult fiction [which is the genre I write] I enjoy reading historical books. I'm currently working through "The Medieval Underworld" by Andrew McCall, and "A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous 14th Century" by Barbara W. Tuchman. I love Medieval/Renaissance history books, since that was my minor in college.
